Sibulan Porters Association receives new set of mountaineering equipment

The Sibulan Porters Association (SPA) has received new set of mountaineering gears and equipment on June 10, 2015 as part of the continuing effort to provide Mt. Apo porters with appropriate gears in climbing the country’s highest peak.

The assistance was provided by USAID-BWISER (Biodiversity and Watershed Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystems Resilience).

The SPA also received similar grant in 2013 from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources XI as its prime enterprise development activities that eventually provided alternative livelihood opportunity to its growing number of membership.

The new equipment and supplies are the following: 1 camping tent, 3 backpacks, 1 tent liner, 6 sleeping bags, 6 power zoom headlamps, 1 camping lantern, 1 camping stove, 1 cooking set,1 first aid kit, 12 batteries and 12 butanes.
