Stakeholders’ orientation on Counter-TIPSTER program held

A 1-day LGU Project Orientation and Stakeholders Partnership Planning Workshop on Countering Trafficking in Person through Information Sharing, Training, Education and Responsive Governance (Counter-TIPSTER) was held on November 17, 2017 at the mayor’s conference room, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. It is a USAID-funded project and is implemented by Tambayan Center for Children’s Rights, Inc. and Luna Legal Resource Center.

The project initially aims to contribute in the reduction of incidence of trafficking in persons (TIP) in the municipality owing to the growing regional, national and global concern on TIP and children on the move. Among the project’s main activities are capacity-building of Local Government Units (LGU) officials and stakeholders and the strengthening of Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) as mandated by R.A. 10364 on the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.

The following objectives attained during the workshop were the introduction of Counter-TIPSTER Project and DaGAT Consortium, expression of the commitment of LGU and stakeholders to the project, coming up with Anti-TIP Plan through partnership building, identification of participants to the Counter-TIPSTER Project Grand Launching and establishment of initial partnership.
