A total of 15 mountaineers from Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur from a group Local Government of Sta. Cruz Adventure CLub (LOGSAC) has participated the Mindanao-wide TreeVolution, a simultaneous tree planting activity held on September 26, 2014 to all designated sites in Mindanao.
It is an initiative spearheaded by the Department of Envionment and Natural Resources (DENR) in response to the Philippine’s National Greening Program.
Aside from planting more trees which is the foremost objective of the event, it also attempted to set a new record for most number of trees planted in one hour, a record held by India.
The area where LOGSAC was assigned was at Barangay Magsaysay in Marilog District, Davao City. The group’s participation was through a Memorandum Order issued by Mayor Joel Ray L. Lopez.
