Sta. Cruz gears up for Bayan Ko, Linis Ko Program

The municipality of Sta. Cruz is all set to participate to the Bayan Ko, Linis Ko National Clean-up day on September 17, 2016 to some identified sites of the municipality.

Sanitation Inspector Engr. Jessie Joy Berallo said there will be two major sites for the clean-up which includes Pilan River in Barangay Zone 4 and Baring Creek in Barangay Zone 3. “We have several volunteers coming from different sectors who have expressed support to the clean-up,” Berallo said.

Other private companies have already confirmed separate locations where they will conduct their clean-up such as the HEDCOR, Inc. which adopted the Sibulan River, San Miguel Brewery which will clean the coastal areas of Barangay Darong and Franklin Baker Company which committed to clean the Coronon River.

Berallo added that the bulk of volunteers will be deployed to Pilan River and Baring Creek composed of volunteers from Department of Education, Barangay Government Units, Coca-Cola FEMSA, Coco Davao, Inc., GSL Foods Export Corporation and Prime Xynergies.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources will also be present to provide technical assistance especially in geo-tagging the event.

Bayan Ko, Linis ko is an initiative of DENR to promote cleanliness in coastal and inland waterways, estuaries, creeks, public places, parks, schools, churches, public and private establishments and all areas nationwide. It aims at strengthening the implementation of Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 200 and to mobilize all LGUs in the country for a one-day clean-up with the participation of all sectors in the society.
