A total of 100 fisher folks here has received banca loan as part of the agri-fishery development program of the provincial government of Davao del Sur. The program will specifically provide livelihood opportunity for the fisher folks of Sta. Cruz through shallow water fishing.
The turning-over ceremony was conducted last December 23, 2013 at Barangay Zone 3 and was personally handed by Governor Claude P. Bautista to the fisher folks of Sta. Cruz through Mayor Joel Ray L. Lopez.
Governor Bautista said this program will help alleviate poverty problem in Davao del Sur which is basically his prime priority being the governor of the province. He further said that other batches of bancas will also be given to the other coastal towns of Davao del Sur.
The recipients were validated by a team of personnel from the Provincial Agriculture Office. Ten beneficiaries each from the ten coastal barangays of Sta.Cruz were the initial recipients namely: Inawayan, Darong, Astorga, Coronon, Zone 1, Zone 3, Zone 4, Tuban, Tagabuli and Bato.
