The Municipality of Sta. Cruz celebrates the 119th Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal with military honors on December 30, 2015 at the municipal plaza, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. Mayor Joel Ray Lopez led the activity which was started with a wreath-laying, followed by the 21-gun salute by the 39th Infantry Batallion, Philippine Army.
Floral offering to the statue of Rizal, as usual, was conducted and was participated by local heads of offices, DepEd personnel, private sector and barangay government functionaries.
After the reading of Rizal’s biography, Dr. Danilo M. Canda of DepEd Regional Office gave his keynote speech, stressing several important highlights of the life of our national hero. Mayor Lopez also shared his insights about the significance of celebrating Rizal’s death anniversary.
