The San Miguel Foundation has launched its health and nutrition program on July 12, 2017 at the San Miguel Brewery Community Clinic in Darong, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
The program is called Happysi Mommy, Healthy si Baby wherein the foundation, together with its partner organizations and agencies will provide health and nutrition intervention between the first 1,000 days of mother’s pregnancy up to a child’s 2 years of life.
The project aims to avoid the prevalence of irreversible stunting among Filipino children as a form of periodic malnutrition in the Philippines.
The project has to go through 3 phases, Phase 1 starts at 270 days pregnancy period from July 2017 to December 2017, Phase 2 at 365 days or 0-12 months old baby from January 2018 to December 2018 and Phase 3 at 365 days or 0-12 months old baby from January 2019 to December 2019.
There are 6 components of the projects which includes series of Education campaign for beneficiaries, their support system and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs); early literacy program for pregnant mothers, their children and BHWs in partnership with Adarna Group Foundation;livelihood project sponsored by Bank of Commerce which aims to provide opportunities for pregnant mothers to generate income and save money for ther pre and post birth expenses; nutrition talk to introduce nutritious, easy-cooking and affordable complementary food for malnourished pregnant mothers and children age 6 months to 2 years old in partnership with SMPFC Culinary Center and home gardening project.
